Book Report – New Year’s Resolution

At the beginning of the year, like every year, I wrote my resolutions. To be exact, I wrote 10 things that I hoped to accomplish by the end of 2009. One of them was to read 5 books. I know I know…that’s less than one book every other month, but it seemed easily attainable at the time.

Well…with 2 weeks left before my deadline, I have read 2 books. One on my own and one with my students.

Untitled-308

Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt has won many awards and I can see why. It was easy to follow, had an exciting climax, and an unexpected ending that made some of my student teary.

Untitled-309RULES is a book about a boy with Autism, written from his sister’s point of view. The book illustrates day-to-day struggles and joys of having someone with Autism in your life. I highly recommend this book!

I am currently reading Smiles To Go by Jerry Spenelli, one of my all time favorite authors. So far, so good!

2 down…3 more to go!!

December 22, 2009 - 10:53 pm sukhyung - too early for resolutions. !

A Merry Koontz Christmas

This year, we had our decorations up BEFORE Thanksgiving. We’re hard core like that. Couldn’t wait.

We added some new things to our Christmas box this year…my favorite being the glass ball wreath I made from the scraps I gathered from the after Christmas sale last year. I also got adorable Mickey and Minnie figures from a Christmas store in Solvang.

We also decided to draw on our mirrors…

Here are some ornaments I’ve acquired through the year. We got Eric Cartman, Santa on an alligator, and the camera in New Orleans.  I bought the Mickey ball with my birthday gift card to Disneyland.

As you can see, we are both excited for Christmas!

January 10, 2010 - 1:58 am Galen - Cute Stuff!

December 23, 2009 - 8:31 am Sakura - Yes, super hot glue on the balls. Jimmy broke some while trying to put it up, but I would stick with glass balls. You need to come over soon!

December 22, 2009 - 11:27 pm Michele - This is adorable. I didn't know you painted your wall RED!!! Gorgeous... Did you use hot glue on the balls? I want to do this next year.
