Tradition

Earlier this month, Jimmy and I sat down and talked about starting our own holiday traditions. When should we open the gifts?  Should we limit the number of gifts? What should we give our son? What kind of message do we want to convey this season? What is important to us?

After a long discussion, we came to a conclusion. We want a raise a child who is caring, sincere, and giving. In order to do this, we need to teach him by modeling.  So this year, instead of bombarding each other with unnecessary gifts, we gave to organizations.

Tatsu gave to his future elementary school (Fern Elementary, Torrance Unified School District)

I gave to a local park for letting me use their beautiful park to photograph most of my holiday sessions.

In addition, we started the day with fresh, home-made cinnamon buns. (which of course, is my *new* favorite tradition)

And we read the Christmas story and talked about the greatest gift that was given to us…

…along with some winter books…

And took our first annual Christmas morning photo…

Hope all my blog readers are having a great time with their friends and family! Merry Christmas!
